Executive Summary

The 10/40 Window — the geographical band between 10°N and 40°N latitude, spanning North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia — contains approximately 71% of the world's population but only 12% of Adventist members. Since the Global Mission initiative launched in 1990, specifically targeting this region, the church has invested over three decades of strategic focus, personnel, and resources. The results are sobering: the Adventist proportion of the 10/40 Window population has remained essentially st...

Key findings

In absolute terms, roughly 2.6-2.8 million Adventists reside in the Window versus 19-20 million outside it. The ratio inside the Window stands at approximately 5.84 Adventists per 10,000 people versus 65.72 outside (2015 data), representing an 11-fold disparity.

The majority of the world's unreached people groups.

The heartlands of Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and other non-Christian religions.

The highest concentrations of poverty and political instability.

The greatest resistance to Christian mission.

Population: Nearly two-thirds of the world's population (approximately 5.44 billion people in 8,580 people groups).

Unreached populations: About 5,911 people groups (68.9%) totaling an estimated 3.45 billion people remain unreached.

Poverty concentration: More than 80% of the world's poorest people live in the Window.

Access restrictions: Around 60% of unreached people groups live in countries closed to traditional missionaries.

- 2003: 1.8 million members inside (13.5% of global total) vs. 11.6 million outside.
