Trans-European Division

TED operates in some of the world's most secular societies, where religious affiliation is declining across all denominations. Adventist membership has been flat to slightly negative (-0.2%), mirroring broader European secularisation trends.

TED's membership is small relative to its geographic and cultural complexity — spanning Scandinavia, the UK, Netherlands, and parts of the Middle East. Each national context requires distinct missional approaches.

TED's challenge is also its opportunity: developing evangelistic approaches that resonate in post-Christian contexts. Successful models here could transfer to increasingly secular Australia and North America. LRP-020 explores whether distinctive identity correlates with retention in such contexts.
